A weirdly big week for movie trailers, but maybe this is just how I interpret encountering the first Saturday morning I’ve had a chance to even look at such things.
There’s a trailer for the new Spider-Man film, and I think it’s the first time he’s appeared in the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ in his own film? Fox has had a damn tight hold on him. Now we just need them to lend the Fantastic Four back to Marvel, too…
A new trailer for the third chapter in the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise is also up, and it reminded me I still haven’t seen the second one. What has become of my life..?
Baywatch is back. Why is this happening? There’s an audience for everything, I guess.
The 4000th film in the Fast & Furious series has a new teaser trailer, loaded with a look back at the previous films and with a tiny bit of new footage thrown in. Charlize Theron might be the only reason to watch this one, but we’ll see. Also: they’ve added a new word to their vocabulary, fate! The Fate of the Furious is the new title for this one. Ominous…
Speaking of reborn franchises, Lethal Weapon is back? Wow. It’s a TV show, this time, and this trailer (from back in May) makes it look like the first episode is just a remake of the first film. I guess we’ll see where it goes from there…
Back to quality viewing: my friends, the good lord Michael Keaton is back in the spotlight. Did he ever truly leave us? I’m not sure, but I feel like disappeared there for a while, with films like Birdman might’ve marked a return of some sort. He’s starred in a few titles since, but this one, The Founder, could be a magical thing. (Also, he’s in the Spider-Man trailer above. Happy day!)
Incidentally, the New York Times has its Best Movies of 2016 list up.
Elsewhere in the internets
The fact that Donald Trump is Time’s Person of the Year is frightening, but… was it actually just an incredible pisstake?
Consider: you could also use this rock holder to hold a potato.
I’ve never had a problem with cask wine (or ‘goon’ if you will) being spied in my kitchen – especially when the box design looks like this – but this special barrel-like holder does look pretty freaking classy.
I like this rug.
These rope belts are pretty neat. Too preppy? I dunno.
Ah goddamn, I need this Human Era Calendar. Need it now.
It’s been believed for some time now that dinosaurs were actually feathered, rather than covered in lizard skin, and now we’ve got a first example of a feathered dinosaur tail preserved in amber. Whoa.
Oof. That oughta do it for this week.
